Chief Executive to retire
Andrew Hynard to retire as Chief Executive of The Howard de Walden Estate
Andrew Hynard is to leave The Howard de Walden Estate early next year.
The business - which encompasses 92 acres of London’s Marylebone - has appointed Mark Kildea who is currently Chief Operating Officer as Interim Chief Executive. Andrew and Mark are working closely to ensure a smooth and orderly handover.
Andrew Hynard commented: “I’m extremely proud of what has been achieved by the team here since I joined The Howard de Walden Estate four years ago.
“Each of the Estate’s portfolios is superbly led, and we have seen continued improvement in financial performance, occupier relations and engagement with the wider community.
“The business is now inherently stronger and we’ve made great steps forward across the retail, office, medical, educational and residential portfolios.
“With Mark Kildea becoming COO earlier this year; Julian Best taking over as Executive Property Director; and other key appointments having been made, the senior management structure has been secured and the business is in good order to face the ongoing challenges that Brexit and the pandemic have brought.
“I will leave my post confident in the knowledge that my successor will oversee the stewardship of one of the best collections of properties in the world. It has been a great privilege to work in this unique and fascinating area of London and I would like to thank everyone across the business for their support, hard work and friendship.”
The Estate’s Chairman, Sir William Proby, commented: “The Board would like to thank Andrew for his contribution as Chief Executive and the progress that has been made during his time with the business. He has helped us to achieve a great deal and we wish him well for the future”.
Prior to joining the Howard de Walden, Andrew Hynard was UK Deputy Chairman of the leading international property consultancy, JLL, where he had also led the firm’s Capital Markets team. In due course he will be considering consultancy and non-executive roles within property and related sectors.
