Arab Health 2020

World-leading HSMA clinics unite at Arab Health 2020

Clinics from Harley Street Medical Area are uniting at Arab Health 2020 to showcase London’s medical excellence.

Located in Marylebone in the heart of central London, Harley Street Medical Area is a collective of hospitals, clinics and specialists who deliver outstanding patient care through pioneering treatments and cutting-edge technologies. Executive Property Director of The Howard de Walden Estate, Simon Baynham discusses why world-leading hospital systems and clinicians are uniting at the Middle Eastern exhibition.

Harley Street originated when doctors began settling there in large numbers in the late-nineteenth century, attracted by its convenient location and attractive Georgian townhouses. It soon became home to some of the great pioneers of modern medicine and was the place where monarchs and heads of state visited when they needed treatment. Its reputation quickly grew as the elegant period buildings house the country’s leading medical experts.

Behind the area’s beautiful 18th century façades and historical architecture lives a 21st century medical practice, complete with cutting-edge equipment and state-of-the art facilities. People visit us from across the world, not just for pioneering medical treatment, but also to admire our beautiful façades, ornate windows and sculpted stonework. It’s an area of curious opposites – modern medicine and centuries-old architecture – and marrying the two remains a real challenge: its historic external appearance doesn’t always reflect the cutting-edge work that’s being done inside.

Today Harley Street Medical Area is home to over 4000 practitioners and over 250 clinics working within 92 acres of Marylebone, covering just about every medical specialism and related profession possible. As the custodians of the area, The Howard de Walden Estate is committed to ensuring Harley Street maintains a reputation for offering the very highest standards of medical care and expertise.

It’s important that we showcase Harley Street’s talents globally; and for the last four years Howard de Walden have taken a large group of hospitals and clinics to Arab Health, the largest healthcare exhibition in the Middle East. I am proud to say that competing clinics from across Harley Street all join forces as a collective stand to showcase Harley Street to the world. United as one we can showcase why Harley Street Medical has a reputation for medical excellence, innovation and patient experience.

This year I am delighted to say we have 17 clinics coming with us of all sizes, some of which have joined us every year since the beginning and others that are coming for the very first time. This year’s attendance reflects the acceleration that has taken place in Harley Street over recent years. For example, some of the world’s largest hospitals will be joining us, such as Advanced Oncotherapy , The Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic, who have all chosen the Harley Street Medical Area as their preferred location to build state-of-the-art UK hospitals. Also representing the area is Royal Pharmacists to Her Majesty the Queen John Bell & Croyden, King Edward VII hospital, Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals (RB&HH), The London Clinic, Schoen Clinic, Moorfields Private, Isokinetic, Nightingale Hospital, The Regenerative Clinic, Fortius Clinic, Harley Street Medical Centre/UME, HCA and The Priory.

Throughout the four-day exhibition our clinicians will be speaking at the congress, performing on the UK Pavilion operating theatre and enjoying numerous networking events with Middle Eastern colleagues, institutions and organisations. It is the perfect platform for our hospitals to connect with other medical healthcare facilities from the Gulf region and hopefully be part of new initiatives designed to help build medical excellence in the Middle East.
