COVID - 19

Howard de Walden continues to monitor the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic

We continue to monitor the impact of the pandemic and how evolving Government policy affects our Marylebone Village residential, educational and commercial occupiers, as well as our medical occupiers in the Harley Street Medical Area.

Their wellbeing and that of our own personnel remain our primary concern. Most of our colleagues are working from home, with full access to support our customers, whilst some remain on site to provide maintenance and security support.

We have taken a series of measures to help with the needs of our residents, business occupiers and the wider community in Marylebone during this unprecedented period, including an initial donation of £50,000 to groups working tirelessly to support the most vulnerable in our community.

Current action includes:

  • Maintaining a 24/7 helpdesk for our residential occupiers and continuing to provide essential maintenance cover.

  • Liaising with commercial occupiers across the Estate and, where appropriate, enabling businesses adversely affected by the Government lockdown to pay rent on a monthly basis instead of quarterly in advance. We are also looking at further practical and financial support for small and independent businesses which are unable to access UK government support for businesses affected by Covid-19.

  • Using our digital and social media networks to promote the shops, restaurants and other businesses that are permitted to trade. Please visit our Marylebone Village website for the most up-to-date information.

  • Liaising with the clinics and hospitals across the Harley Street Medical Area to better understand how they are partnering with the NHS in its response to Covid-19. More details of how these hospitals, clinics and practitioners are supporting the NHS and providing new forms of care to their patients, will be posted on the HSMA website.

  • Continuing to provide security measures and monitoring across the Estate.

  • Howard de Walden remains committed to helping local charities and community initiatives. Recent support includes a £100,000 donation to University College London Hospital for clinical research and to train two anaesthetists. In addition, a total of £50,000 has been contributed to:

    • Supporting our local Food Bank which is playing a vital role in ensuring those in need are getting the provisions they require
    • Continuing our relationship with Age UK Westminster and West London Mission by supporting their efforts to help vulnerable people in the borough during this difficult time
