VIU comes to Marylebone Village

The Howard de Walden Estate signs up Swiss eyewear label VIU

VIU, a Swiss eyewear brand that was originally established as an e-commerce start-up in 2013, has arrived in Marylebone as part of its UK physical retail expansion. VIU offers high quality eyewear at accessible prices and encourages consumers to order up to four frames to take home and try out free of charge before making a purchasing decision.

The 1,700 sq ft store at 70-72 Marylebone Lane will be the brand’s second outlet in the UK and follows the success of its Soho unit which opened this year. VIU has a 53-store network across Switzerland, Germany, Scandinavia and Austria.

Jenny Casebourne, Retail & Leisure Director at The Howard de Walden Estate, comments: “VIU is a perfect example of a retailer that was originally an online ‘pureplay’ brand expanding its business into physical retailing as part of its long-term growth plans.

“It is joining a tremendous group of brands on Marylebone Lane including Koibird, Yacco Maricard and VV Rouleaux, which are complemented by great places to eat and drink such as Delamina, 108 Brasserie and Le Relais de Venise.Marylebone Lane continues to evolve as an exciting and eclectic district for food, fashion, and lifestyle.”

Kilian Wagner, CEO & co-founder at Viu eyewear comments: “The Marylebone store is our largest to date, and marks an important step in expanding our store network as we work to fulfil our mission to shape the future of eyewear.”
