International Women's Day 2023

As part of our celebrations to mark International Women's Day, The Howard de Walden Estate hosted a Marylebone Village panel discussion and networking event at jazz bar 28-50 by Night. We heard from some of the inspirational female founders and entrepreneurs behind the brands of Marylebone Village’s Marylebone Lane.

BBC broadcaster Jo Good, led the all-female panel which discussed balancing work and personal life, challenges being female has presented and how they have overcome them, why they chose Marylebone Village as home for their flagship stores and how to survive and thrive in business!

See the video below for the event highlights and head to the Marylebone Village Instagram to discover more of the IWD series.

We would like to thank Joanna Laforge, Head of Operations at 28°-50° Wine Workshop and Kitchen, Clara Francis and Tania Hindmarch, Co-founders of O Pioneers, Dinny Hall , Founder of Dinny Hall, Tracey Neuls, Founder of Tracey Neuls, Rajvi Vora, Founder of Kastur Jewels and Jane Ellis and Kate Allden, Co-Founders of KJ'S Laundry for taking the time to share their insights.

Internally at the Estate, we hosted a weeklong programme to celebrate International Women’s Day 2023 with the aim of all our colleagues feeling inspired and empowered irrespective of gender. We posted daily content on our intranet focusing on “confidence”, “career progression”, “caring responsibilities”, “work-life balance” and “communication”.

Women we profiled included consultants, occupiers, charitable partners, plus one of our NED’s, Liz Peace, and Director of Planning and Engagement Andrea Merrington. Our main event was an interactive talk with guest speaker Maxine Nwaneri, University of Cambridge graduate; #1 Amazon international bestselling author; and, certified executive coach at “The Future is Greater” at which Maxine shared her own personal story and her USP framework for success.

We also held a women’s clothing drive for The Sanctuary, run by The Marylebone Project, London’s first and only 24 hour drop-in centre for homeless women located in North Marylebone.
