UME expands its Harley Street Presence

A new standalone facility specialising in cardiovascular conditions comes to the HSMA

United Medical Enterprises Group (UME) has announced plans for a brand-new facility within the world-famous Harley Street Medical Area, adding to its existing outpatient and diagnostic facility at the Harley Street Medical Centre. Situated at 17 Harley Street, this new specialist centre will provide agile and patient-centred care using sophisticated technology for the treatment and management of cardiovascular conditions—offering a wealth of expertise across cardiology, hypertension and respiratory medicine.

The standalone facility—aimed at international and self-pay patients—will come equipped with advanced diagnostics technology and imaging equipment, including a state-of-the-art 3 Tesla Philips Elition X MRI and a GE revolution CT scanner capable of capturing the whole heart in a single beat, alongside echocardiography and other innovative technologies.

Continuing the historic legacy at 17 Harley Street—a property that dates back to the 1750s—the centre is set to be one of the only two private facilities in the UK to house the pioneering Autonomic Function Testing laboratory, a non-invasive means of testing that indicates if the autonomic nervous system is functioning as it should in the regulation of cardiovascular control. This enables better understanding of complex circulatory disorders, which informs treatment and provides enormous benefits to clinicians and their patients.

The Grade II listed building––noted for its stylistic work and architecture (and once used to house the Spanish Embassy for a short period in the 19th century)—is also set to become the site of the first independent standalone cardiovascular centre in the Harley Street Medical Area.

Nick Bird, CEO of UME Group UK, commented: “We are delighted to be expanding our business within the Harley Street Medical Area—the facility at 17 Harley Street is the perfect location for our patients and consultants and will appeal to a wide market.

“The facility is designed to provide an agile one-stop shop for cardiovascular care, covered by a wide range of sub specialists working together in the best interests of our patients. It will also have a paperless front reception area, embracing new technologies for patient communication, emphasising our plans to provide an enhanced level of patient experience alongside exceptional care.”

The new centre will link with UME’s Middle East facilities in Saudi Arabia, Oman and Dubai allowing international patients a wide range of access points and support. The company has been managing hospitals and healthcare projects in the Middle East since 1973.
