PAULIE COMES TO MARYLEBONE

PAULIE IS A relatively new name and label, conceived by Paul Davis who already has two London shops – Little Venice and Temple Fortune.

Now Paulie is coming to town, to Marylebone, where Davis opened his third, flagship store in January 2009, at 13 Hinde Street, London W1, a veritable success story in the current economic climate.

Marylebone is set to be the next new shopping destination.

Paulie, a destination store, will create a new spirit at the erstwhile Ghost shop with hot Brit artist Damien Hirst as his new neighbour.

Paulie’s West End presence is in keeping with their customer profile – ‘an individual, independent woman who appreciates a ‘villagey’ ambiance.

“Marylebone will be a new experience for Paulie and the move a great stepping stone in creating a brand image and style which can be developed and sold worldwide,” believes Davis, who designs 60 per cent of the collection under his own ‘Paulie’ label as well as sourcing edgy new labels at home and in Europe.

“We pride ourselves on finding small, individual companies who are commercial yet with a creative twist and reflect what’s happening that particular season,” believes Davis.

Rather than phoning customers when new pieces arrive, Paulie prefers to text them, finding this less intrusive.

“Whether she is housewife or career-woman, our customer is stylish ambitious and seeking innovation.  She is smart, media savvy and shrewd,” says Davis.

We may be a nation of shopkeepers, but there is always room for the right one.

“With so many multiples and large organisations, we seem to have lost the art of service and creativity.  Paulie will offer both,” promises Paul.

And the monochromatic Paulie logo’d carrier bag is destined to become the wannabee tote of the season.
